Is this color profile correct?

Postby Maniaxx » Mon Sep 08, 2008 2:23 am

Hallo,
i'm trying to profile my scanner. I created a color profile with IT8.7/2 target, assigned it to the TIFF file and converted it to sRGB colorspace (relative metric). Then, black is R27,G27,B27 (L=10) but not nearly 0. White is 252 and seems ok. Are these normal values for black and white and the profile is correct? I'm not sure if black is intended as 0,0,0 (L=0) at all.

Dear Maniaxx,

the IT8 target offers calibration fields which are compared to a reference file. The differences are used to calibrate color offsets.
The target has no fields which should have a certain color value like true black(RGB#00 00 00) or true red (RGB#255 00 00).
such absolute values is neither needed needed for the calibration nor technically reachable.

kind regards
