Every time I start SF 6.1.0.r35 I get this message
'Error writing Logfile'
and I have to re-enter the serial number
was fun at first I started timing myself to see how quickly I could do it.

What's is that SF_Logfile anyway?
It's a simple text file that helps us to identify certain common problems. It delivers detailed system information that enables us to check out the problem description on a computer system set up similarly.
The "SF_Logfile" is necessary for our internal testing center for a first analysis of the problem. It is created on every SilverFast startup, even if no scanner is found.
How to overcome the "error writing SF_Logfile"
If SilverFast "cannot write the SF_Logfile", the operating system deems the file being still in use (i.e. open for write access). The reason probably is that SilverFast is already running (i.e. you try to start a second instance of the programme) or that an earlier launch of SilverFast crashed and therefore the operating system doesn't 'know' the application that generated the SF_Logfile (i.e. SilverFast) does no longer run.
There also can be a problem with the file permission rights on your given operating system.
Please re-start your computer and log on as administrator (under Windows) or (on a Mac OSX system) as root. Delete the SF_Logfile while being admin/root.
Log off and on into your user account (most Windows users already work with admin rights, so this might or might not be relevant to you) and try again.
How to remedy to need to enter the serial on every SF start-up
If you have to re-enter the SilverFast serial number each start you are running SilverFast, there's something wrong.
(a) It might be you are using an Adobe Photoshop version prior 5.5.
This cannot be helped. You either update your PS, or use the SF_Launcher, scan to file and open this file normally in Photoshop.
N.B. that using Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 or higher is okay with SilverFast 6. The notion "5.5 or above" applies to the full-blown version of Photoshop.
(b) Your serial number file possibly cannot be written correctly.
You will find further information in our serialisation FAQ.
