Error: Not enough space available on the disc

I have just updated SFAi6 to latest version SF v6.4.2r9

It sems to be working Ok in all respects except for when I want to scan and save to file. The earlier version was working Ok in this respect apart from the computer crashing after a number of scans.
That is why I went to update in Sf site. Now as soon as I ask to scan to file I get the error box.Not enough space available on the disc.
I have 35gb on C - 35gb on D - and 160 gb on J all free and have tried saving to each one with this same error message. The nominated scratch disc is in C.
Windows XP SP2 - Photoshop CS - Epson Expression 1680 Pro.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

1) run chkdsk on all of your disks
2) defrag
3) try again
3.1) move the scratch disk to another disk (it may be faster)
4) any problem if you don't save to disk ?

Another thing you can do to trouble shoot, in addition to what degrub suggested, is to try using Epson Scan with same image and same settings (the one's that are available anyway) you have used in SilverFast.
