DigitDia 4000, Silverfast Ai, iSRD, colors

Postby Kul » Wed Dec 06, 2006 6:59 pm

In a former thread I mentioned iSRD affecting colors with a reflecta DigitDia 4000. While the result without iSRD is OK (if you don't count the dust dots), by invoking iSRD the colors change to the worse (a greyish-blueish-greenish haze and horizontal greenish stripes in dark areas).

Please all DD4000 users:

Has anybody a similar problem or am I the only one?
Regards

Using SF 6.4.3r8b + FirmWare 1.04 +Ai Studio = results okay

Hi Kul,

after pondering about the various versions, test results by users of this and the filmscanner forum, I finally wanted to get started scanning my slides instead of conducting 1000s of test scans only.
I therefore upgraded my Ai version to Ai Studio and am quite satisfied by the results:
no system crashes,
no color hazes, stripes,
slide orientation works perfectly well (not a single miss)
iSRD set to 199 produces very good results - no artefacts
noise in dark areas still very prominent so I scan those slides with dark areas 4 times - significantly reduces noise, but in about 30 - 40% of all cases I get misaligned scans so I have to scan these again
automatic numbering of slides sometimes seems to be messed up - need to do more tests here

conclusion - above version & firmware = best results obtained so far

next steps: will try out tip indicated by another user in the filmscanner forum (i.e. use different types of slides (snow, skin tones, etc.)

Take care

Newest tests seem to indicate that having other devices on other USB ports (like a not active! external hard disc) affect the performance.
