Hello,
When I launch my SilverFast Ai Studio 6.6.2.r5 for scanning slides on my Plustek 7500i, the first automatic file name is "Sans nom-1" (I have the French version). Then, for the next slide, it's "Sans nom-2", etc. That's OK.
If I scan, say 14 slides, the last scan is named "Sans nom-14".
But if I close SilverFast, the next time I will open it the first scan will be "Sans nom-1". And sometimes I would like it was "Sans nom-15" in order not to have the same file name in the same directory ! And not to have to rename each file manually.
Is there a tip to force SilverFast to name the files beginning at a choosen number ?
Thank you.
Apolinaire

Re: Automatic file names
Dear Apolinaire,
It luckily is not possible to have two files of the same name in the same folder.
The operating system will simply increase the number.
Or you set the file name to the number it shall continue with.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Re: Automatic file names
Hello Arne,
I know that it is not possible to have 2 files of the same name in the same directory. (I worked all my life on computers !). What you explain is "after the scan", when files are moved from a directiry to another. My question is at the moment where I clic on the scan button. Silverfast asks me where I want to write the file before scanning (in which directory). Imagine that I am scanning a lot of slides of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Yesterday I scanned from "Sans nom-1" to "Sans nom-24". Today, when I launched Silverfast to complete my scans of Eiffel Tower, the name by default of my first scan is "Sans nom-1" when I clic on the scan button. If I want to write my files in my Eiffel Tower directory (that seems obvious !) and if I clic the write button, my OS doesn't increase the number ! It tells me "Sans nom-1 already exists. Do you want to replace it ?" And I have only 2 solutions : Replace or Cancel.
So I have to rename "San nom-1" to "Sans nom-25". And for the next scan, I will have to rename "Sans nom-2" to "Sans nom-26", etc.
What I would like in this example is to be able to say at SiverFast : "Today, begin with Sans nom-25". An improved competitiveness ! No manual renames while scanning !
I really rename my files when all scans of a collection are completed and after having sorted them.

Re: Automatic file names
Dear Apolinaire,
Please try switching the Scan Mode in the general tab to Batch Mode.
This should also work for single scans and allow you to control the numbering better.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
