auto frame detection is not working

Hi, I spent considerable amount of time trying to understand how how to get automatic frame detection working. As far as I can see the program allows to scan one picture at a time. All videos seem to refer to version 6.

I am a beginner who is interested in scanning a large collection of old pictures (prints and slides) that I want to make digital. I want highest possible quality without spending much time on every image (there are lots of them) so I was attracted by the automatic workflow feature. I need to be able to scan multiple images at a time with setting that will do automatic correction, dust elimination, name the files consecutively, etc.

Is this possible, and if so what are optimal settings?

Ps . My (just upgraded) version says Silverfast 8.2.0.r3 (Epson V750)
It would be helpful if the program's name corresponded to the product list on your webpage (Ai, SE, etc)

Which version of SilverFast are you using?
(SE, SE Plus, Ai, Ai Studio)

When you start SilverFast this is shown in the upper left of the SilverFast window.

Hi, I upgraded to Ai Studio since the last post. Still for scanning prints finding frames is a hit and miss. Are there some additional settings?

Dear Tomek,

Is the edge of the material very similar in color to the background?
It helps if you place a sheet of contrasting paper on top of reflective prints.
Bright edges are difficult to differentiate from the white background when scanning reflective.
Try placing a dark paper on top of the material in such cases.
The protection cover in the transparency lid also must be inserted.
Otherwise the structures in the lid will confuse the frame finding.

Hi,
thanks for the info. It works better but not good enough, lots of adjustments are needed. It is not clear how this is implemented but I suspect that if the program kept a reference scan of the bottom of the scanner then identifying obscured rectangles would be simple. This would work for prints placed directly on the glass.
