48-bit underexposed

Postby Escaport » Thu Jan 31, 2008 5:13 pm

I am using version Ai Studio 6.4.4r7a (the latest version I have without paying another couple hundred dollars) on an Epson 3200 Photo flatbed under Mac OS 10.5.1. I am scanning transparencies. When I scan with 48-bit -> 24-bit I get an image that is just as the preview shows. I 48-bit color mode I get a horribly underexposed version of the same photo with none of the settings applied to the image.

I understand that 48-bit HDR will show as a dark image due to the linear nature of it, this is not my problem.

This is a 48-bit -> 24-bit scan.

This is 48-bit scan with no setting changes from above. (Not a 48-bit HDR scan)

Dear Escaport

normally you should experience no difference in terms of exposure between an "48>24" and "48 non-HDR" scan.

Still, please check if enabling
> Options > General > [Use gamma value setting] for HDR output
will remedy the problem.

Best regards
