35mm color negative scan previews show in black & white

Postby kaptures » Fri Oct 24, 2008 7:40 pm

i can't figure why my color negative (35mm) film scans are all appearing in black & white in the previews. i've tried 48>24-bit colour and 48-bit colour and am selecting the appropriate film stock in the negafix dialog box. the rgb dialog menus all SEEM to show RGB info, but previews are TOTALLY monochromatic. at first i thought my film was expired or something was wrong w/ my film processing. but this is now going on on 4 rolls of 35mm color neg film i'm trying to scan (Fuji NPH 400, Kodak VC400 x 2, Lomo 100).

i'm using a new Microtek Artix M1 PRO scanner w/ the included SF Ai Studio software. i've tried running thru the Adobe CS3 plug-in mode and stand alone mode... both have same results. i've been able to successfully scan color neg's in the past. so i'm guessing that somehow i've inadvertently changed a color space setting... oh, i'm running on PC platform, XP pro sp. 2. as mentioned, Adobe CS 3 premium suite.

i tried searching these forums with various keyword combo's but dint find anything helpful.

also, does anybody have a workaround/color profile for Lomo 100 ASA 35mm color negative film? i dunno how to do this yet, so i'd guess i'd prolly just use another film (maybe Kodak Porta) and adjust in PP using Photoshop.

many thanks for any insights + tips. please forgive my ignorance if this is a user error. i've tried checking the manual, online (like dpreview + google), and SF help... so far to no avail.

cheers

Dear David,

you might want to try resetting the preference file using the SF_Launcher service menu.
You might have a wrong color, sturation or colorspace setting somewhere.
resetting the preferences would be the fastest way to solve this.

kind regards
