"iT8 Calibration" calibration or profile creation?

Hi

I am using Silverfast AI Studio with a LinoType Hell Tango Scanner... i was just wondering if the iT8 Calibration tool is doing anything aside from creating a custom icc profile for my scanner and loading it into the CM settings?

is it safe to assume that the "iT8 calibration" does not modify the hardware in any way or change the way my scanner functions? instead it just creates a scanner profile?

indeed that's what the IT8 calibration does:
(a) reading color data of target from scanner
(b) comparing to values found in reference file
(c) generating ICC profile for your scanner
(d) saving profile to the relevant system directories
(e) activating scanner profile in SilverFast's CMS settings

That's it, nothing more - hardware isn't set up / changed in any way.
It's save.
