I've tried for days to purchase the 5.5
upgrade but can't get to the secure site.

From the main English page:
http://www.silverfast.com/english/
clicking on "Purchase ..." goes to
https://www.silverfast.com/purchase/sfai55upg-en.html
Note this is using https:, the secure web server. Unfortunatly it never replies and eventually times out.

I'm using Netscape 4.8 on MacOS
I've sent emails every day but get no reply.

IS ANYONE HOME?!?

You have an excellent product. But this is
making me very frustrated.

UPDATE:
I was able to purchase the upgrade from the secure website by using (ugh.spit.poof)
Microsloth Exploder (ach.oooof.spit)
There. I said it.

This means your websites are not compatible
with other browsers.

I would highly recommend that you review the
secure web pages and make sure that they
work with, at least, Netscape 4.8.

Sheesh.

Dear rchrd,

after quite thorough examination of web pages, http server logs and several different browsers I found that:
* web pages are ok (at least W3C HTML validation service found no errors that could cause this behaviour)
* Netscape 4.61 on Mac can load the page ok.
* Freshly installed netscape 4.7 couldn't
* After reloading with 4.61 - both Netscapes could load the page with no problems!

Where is the cause? I don't want to insist on your browser choice, but when it comes to functionality - there's much more problems with Netscape than with IE. Some people have different opinions but in most cases they experience other problems within their OS that lead to browsing faults.

Thanks for investigating.

It is always most annoying when things don't
work the way we think they should.

I do try not to use microsoft products
whenever possible. Thats why I'm on a Mac
and not a PC. Unfortunatly the HTML each
accepts differs. Thats why we need standards,
and, once we have that, we need software
developers to adhere to them.

Microsoft thinks otherwise.

Anyway, I was able to download the upgrade,
and appreciate the work LaserSoft has been
doing with SilverFast. Viele Danke!
