Request. Negafix brand/film/speed table

Postby Gregory C » Wed Sep 04, 2002 11:20 pm

I have seen a few postings which indicate that one Negafix profile actually represents two or more film brands/types. I would like to see a table or even a simple list which in the first column indicates the brand/film/speed and then in the adjacent columns indicates the brand/film/speed of other films represented by the same profile. If we have any queries about a film not listed in the profile list, we could then load the table page and do a quick text search to see if the missing film is already represented by another film type.

regards
Gregory

Gregory,
we'll investigate your idea. For now you can just search for specific brand/film in ordinary search form, because the IT8 calibration files are plain text files and are indexed in the search DB.

searching for film types

Are you referring to a search on the web site?

I just searched for "nexia". Only one result was returned; the Negafix Profiles list and it simply lists the profiles currently available. It does not indicate which brands/types of film are represented by other existing profiles, and it doesn't explain the meaning of the 'Other' profiles such as the Macophot UP 25 profile which seems to be more accurate for the Kodak Advantix 200 APS film I am currently scanning than the Advantix 200 profile itself!

A search for 'IT8' led me to the IT8 directory, and a consequent search for 'Ektachrome' found the IT8 calibration files. These however are not the Negafix Profiles that I would be looking for.

Gregory

Gregory,
yes you can still search for the IT8 calibration files and even download them :)
However they'll be of no use untill you have SF with IT8.

The 'search DB' is the data being gathered for our web search form

searching the site

That has to be the quickest reply in the history of the Forum. The answer seemed to be on the forum even before I submitted the question :D

Quick question. How do I specify the language (or at least the language extension; eg 'en' & 'de') of the returned pages? If I search for 'Negafix expert', I get 13 results but more than half of them are non-English. Wading through longer lists can be very monotonous.

Gregory
