Pardon me if I missed this elsewhere on the site, but is Silverfast compatible with Windows XP64 Professional? I have Ai Studio for the Minolta 5400II, Epson 4870, and Polaroid SS4000+ (now retired) as well as HDR Studio.
I am thinking of building a new imaging workstation which will have a 64-bit capable CPU. Since Vista has been delayed, I have thought of getting XP64 OEM with the parts to be able to address more RAM. I have to make sure that my mission-critical devices and software will work with this OS. (Silverfast is certainly a member of that group.)
Anyone with experience with XP64? Does Silverfast run in the WOW64 32-bit emulator? Do I need to be concerned with device drivers originating from the OEM scanner software to use Silverfast?
Thanks!
Lloyd
Windows XP64 compatibility?

Dear Llyod
first of all, it is most important that there are x64 drivers available for your given scanners. We did not yet have a complete test run of all scanners under XP x64, but e.g. the Perfection 4990 did worked fine.
I think you can be lucky with the 4870 (I repeat: install Epson's x64 drivers, can be downloaded from their support website) and SilverFast.
However, I am not that sure about the Minolta and most doubtful about the Polaroid scanner, but am myself missing test results.
Still, hope these pieces of info might help you a bit.
Best regards

Sorry for my delay in responding to you with thanks for this information! Life got in the way for awhile.
The Polaroid is a non-issue for me, and the 4870 will probably soon be. I plan on getting one of the new Epson V-750M Pro scanners ASAP.
Who should I contact with Lasersoft about how one transfers licenses of no longer needed vsersions. I have bought Ai Studio for both the SS4000+ and the Epson 4870 in addition to the bundled versions. I'd like to use that to sweeten the sale of these scanners.
Regards,
Lloyd

Windows 64-bit scanners
I also can't find a 64-bit driver for my Umax 6700 scanner. I've got Silverfast AI (brilliant software) but it won't run on XP x64.
Do Umax need to provide a 64-bit driver before Silverfast can help, or does Silverfast have its own drivers? If so when will they produce a 64-bit compatible version?

Windows XP64 compatibility?
Dear Sonny
I have Epson Expression 10000XL and SilverFast Ai (in bundle). I couldn't install version from CD under Windows XP x64 because installer easily abort process. Well... I download latest version SF and Epson 64-bit drivers from official sites. After update drivers installer install SF but warning twice that software may work incorrectly under "your 64-bit operation system". It is right. Program startup but after click Preview button scaner scan and all hungs up. Scaner indicates that it transmit data but SF don't receive them. After that I kill SF by force of Task Manager and reset scaner by Power button.
Your comments? How I can work with SF? Or when I can download version of SF for Windows XP x64?
Best regards
Martin

Re: Windows XP64 compatibility?
Dear Martin,
At this time there is not a compatible version of SilverFast under Windows XP 64 bits. We are now testing an experimental version of SilverFast Epson under Vista 64 (but not yet XP 64).
We will communicate all our customers when a new compatible version is availble, at this time the options you have left are to operate your scanner from a supported operating system (xp 32 bits, tiger, Leopard, etc)
Thanks for your cooperation and apologies for the inconveniences.
Cheers

Re: Windows XP64 compatibility?
Hello,
I have purchased an Epson V700 which came bundled with SilverFast. When I registered the software I accidenlty chose Vista 32 rather than the 64, is there a way to change my registration so I can get the correct update when it is available for my scanner? Also, is there an epa on that update?
Thank you.

Re: Windows XP64 compatibility?
Dear TomS
It is not a problem what you have chosen during the product registration, you will always have the option to download the installer for all operating systems supported by the SilverFast module for your scanner (even for mac).
Of course this will be available to you only when the compatible version is ready (we trust is not going to be long, since the new version is in the test center now).
The download area can be found at: https://www.silverfast.com/get_update/en.html
