What can I do?

Postby mjalkut » Fri Apr 25, 2003 9:16 am

I've emailed support twice and received no response.

I've posted on the forum and received no help.

I've emailed info@silverfast.com and received no response.

I paid good money and have software that isn't working out. How do I either get it fixed or get my money back?

I am running an Epson ES1000C scanner on a Mac G4 400 Sawtooth with an Adaptec 2930U SCSI adapter and Silverfast SE 6.0.2.r15, on both OS 9.2 and OSX 10.2.4.

When the total scan size requirement exceeds a few megabytes the scanner locks up. It works on smaller scans.

On OS9 using Epson Twain, the scanner works fine. On OSX, using Hamrick's v**s**n, it works fine. Silverfast SE fails the same way under both OS9 and OSX using both SF_APP and Photoshop 7.

Please Help.

How much memory do you have in your computer, and how much did you gave the Hostapplication, where you start SilverFast (under OS 9) ? Is there any Filter you use, what could cause this trouble ? All Epson scanner we have here runs fine.

Thanks for replying.

Memory is 900 meg of ram.

Memory for photoshop iin os9 is set at 52891k for preferred and suggestd and 45723k for minimum. Increasing preferred size doesn't help.

The "filter" menu was set on "auto sharpen". Setting it to "none" doesn't help.

The scanner starts to scan. The graphic shows 1 or 2 horizontal scan lines. Then it locks up.

Please try to increase all memmorysettings for the Host up to 524288 kb. That are 512 MB, and should do every job. 50 MB is not enough. If this works, and is too much memory givin' to the host, you could set it down, until the problem occurs again.

This bug was recently fixed (only older Epson scanners were affected). Expect updated versions (>= 602r21) in the download area soon.
