I wonder whether Version 6.6.0rx still supports "negative direct" mode for nikon scanners.

no we do not support this mode anymore as we do not use the nikon maid library anymore.
Please use our NegaFix feature.

Dear Thomas Lübker,

this is very bad news.

Negative was unusable so far with Nikon scanners. Heavy colorcast, due to unsolved non-linearity problems.

NegaFix quality may suffer, due to the indirect communication with the Nikon hardware. Therefore, LaserSoft-Imaging added this negative "direct" mode (Neg.:direct) for those cases where quality just don't meet the usual expectations.
In this mode SilverFast will NOT apply it's NegaFix data corrections and will instead rely on the Nikon Maid libraries for better negative analysis.

Does that mean, that you finaly improved Negafix?
Dont put me to your videos and literature, this is all useless.

we tested NegaFix with the new native Nikon version and found it working very good. We are also optimising our NegaFix profiles at the moment
to ensure an even more accurate conversion.

this sounds promising.

However, when I testet 6.6.0r2 a few days ago, Negdirect was still available and the good old Negafix-colorcast was as it was before.

I ran the test on my notebook-PC which also has Nikon-Scan and an older testversion of Silverfast DCpro installed.

Any interference between drivers?

thats right the Windows Version of SilverFast still feature the direct mode for negative as Nikon is suplying an updated Maid library for Vista but not for Leopard and Intel Macs. This is the reason why we made the native version for Macintosh. So on the PC side the direct mode is still there.
About NegaFix the optimised profiles have not been implemented yet as we are still on it. Producing and optimizing NegaFix profiles is a very time consuming task. Anyway as soon as we release a new Version with optimised NegaFix profiles we will put it on our Website.
