Upgrading from old Ver to Current Ver

I have SF Ai Studio Ver. 6.4.4r7 which stopped working under Vista Ultimate . I am using an Epson Perfection 3200 Photo scanner.
Also, I just went to 64 bit Vista on another computer with the same model scanner.Both PC's are used in my graphics business.

From what I have read on the website, the current version should work with both my PC's.

I would like to upgrade to the current version if the software will work on both.

So I guess I have the following questions:

1. Does the most current version have an upgrade path from my older version or do I have to purchase the product at the non upgrade price?
2. Can I download the trial versions to see if it works OK?

I love this software and I want to keep using it.

Of course you can purchase it for the upgrade price
