Hello,
I originally bought Silverfast Ai + IT8 calibration together with a Reflecta ProSCan 4000 scanner.
It was version 6.something with I then upgraded to 6.4.4.
I am now contemplating an upgrade to 6.6 because of the iSRD and Multi-Exposure features in the newer versions. However, I was *very* disappointed with the usability of the previous version, although the results were usually quite OK.
I detailed my opinion here post13701.html#p13701.
a) to Silverfast: has anything been done about the user interface issues I wrote about? How much would an upgrade cost?
b) to the user forum: Is an upgrade to 6.6 worth it, in general? I noticed some people wrote about problems with the new features.
c) Is the Reflecta Proscan 4000 still an "up-to-date" scanner or will I get *much* better results if I invest into a new scanner? I only scan 35mm negatives and never used professional high quality film. My negatives are all at least ten years old, my goal is best quality archival so I can stop worrying about them rotting or breaking.
Thank you!

Dear Customer,
thank you for your post.
We have read your older post regarding our User interface carefully and will take it into consideration with our next Major release when we restructure our GUI. Please note that some things in SilverFast tend to be complicated for private use due to our High-End heritage. If you or other SilverFast users have more suggestions on how to improve SilverFasts usability and functionality, please let us now by posting in this forum.

Hello,
thank you! Can you give a rough timeframe when the next major release will be due?
I.e. in 3/6/12 months?
Will the next major release be a free upgrade for existing customers?
(I.e. is it safe now for me to upgrade my version 6.4 to 6.6, or should I wait for the new version)?
Thank you!

Dear Jens as the next major release makes some very complex architectural changes it will still take some time,
so I can just tell you that we try to release it within the next 12 month.

As written before it will take much effort till we will release a new major version.
So we can not give away the new version for free. Please be aware that we will still release free maintenance upgrades till
the next major version is released.
