Update from Version 5.1 to 5.5

My present Version is an IT8 version. What do I have to do to preserve my IT 8 compatibility when updating. Do I need both TWAIN and PhotoShop updates?

I just purchased Nikon Coolscan 4000 ED and it came with SilverFast 5.2. So far I only installed NikonScan 3.1.1 and have used it to scan 48 Bit raw files, which I have processed with SilverFast HDR. Can I safely installa SilverFast 5.2 and use it for Scanning 48 bit raw files or is there actually any need for this.
