Greetings,
Purchased the Plustek OpticFilm 7600i with SilverFast AI Studio 6.62r4 hoping to archive in the best quality possible 20 years of slides and negatives. After 3 weeks of trial and error am still not sure about the relation between output and resolution as resulting in the dpi value. If I leave the output to the size of the frame (3.5 x 2.4) and slide the dpi slider to the higher values (after applying the various color and exposure corrections) will the result be the optimal all-purpose file, suitable for whatever size printing needed and of a very high quality?
As you can read, I'm an extreme novice and need hands-on advice as even after reading certain sections in the manual could not fathom the best method. In the beginning as a rule of thumb had scanned at an output of 30 x 20, Q factor 2.0 and lpi of 220 so the resulting dpi was 440..
Many thanks, Donna

Re: understanding output and optimal settings
Dear Donna,
The values in the input field for setting the image dimensions of
width and height of an original are automatically set by drawing
a scan frame on the prescan. Enter a quality factor (1.5 recommended) and the desired final size and SilverFast will calculate the
optimal resolution and scaling factor for you.
Best regards,
