Hi,
When using SF HDR 8 I am finding that frequently the colour of the displayed thumbnail differs from the image preview above the thumbnail display area, see attachment for an example of a HDRi RAW scanned image from a film neg.
Could someone please explain why the thumbnail colour is different to the preview, and how I can correct this? When I use the "Recreate selected thumbnails" function, it simply recreates the thumbnail with the same incorrect colour. I am not confident which of the two images is the "correct" colour. I have assigned a NegaFix profile during the scan (Kodak VR 100).
Thanks,
Steve

Re: Thumbnails in VLT incorrect colour
Dear user,
The image in the full view is the correct color.
The VLT uses very small images, so the highlights and shadows might not be as precise. Also the processing for the thumbnails is not as extensive as for the full image to save processing time.
But also make sure you have the latest update installed. We have improved the VLT in some updates.
Kind regards,
Arne

Re: Thumbnails in VLT incorrect colour
Thanks Arne.
This example is a neg scanned in SF Ai as 64-bit HRDi , and then displayed in SF HDR's VLT as-is, with no processing applied other than negafix. I would be interested to know how the thumbnail is generated, if not with the negafix profile selected during initial scan? I am interested because I find that many thumbnails are not accurate to the full image as displayed in VLT.

Re: Thumbnails in VLT incorrect colour
Dear Steve,
The preview in the VLT is not applying all the filters to the image because that would take too much time. Especially with larger collections.
The difference occurs because the HDRi RAW image is a raw file and only a simple transformation is done to show it in positive. The image itself is not altered and all alterations are stored in the Metadata of the file. These changes are only shown in the full view.
Kind regards,
Arne
