Some general questions

Postby zvikeitan » Mon Nov 16, 2009 4:14 pm

I want to scan a variety of slides and negatives for my friends & family (not professional photographers).
What resolution should I use if I want them to be able to use the scanned files for power point projections and maybe for printing them as postcard size?
I prefer to use the minimal resolution possible, so the scan will be the fastest.
Also, should I save it as a JPG or as a TIF? And if as jpg, what compression should I use?
I am using the Plustek OpticFilm 7600i with the SF Ai studio 6.6
Thanks,
Eitan.

Dear Eitan,

Your are very relative questions. It all comes down to the quality file you want in the end.

You should first know the size of the powerpoint documents you want to create as well as the printing you are going to use.

Since this topic has been discussed many times an is explained in our documentation, i suggest you check the instruction manual for SilverFast which might give you a better insight of the program.

The documentation and films can be found here: http://www.silverfast.com/knowledge/
