Dear philoumg,
It is correct, our HDR software is at this time not officially supported under the operating systems Windows XP 64 bits and Windows Vista 64 bits.
Our developer's team is working at the moment on many different tasks accoding to the priority of every project.
For this reason, we have not yet announced, and do not have any official release date for the compatibility of HDR with the mentioned operating systems for the time being.
We will be informing all users about possible compatibility on our newsletter (if you are interested, please suscribe at: http://www.silverfast.com/mailing_list/ ... =subscribe )
Thank you very much for your interest
Have a nice day

Lasersoft People
The Windows Vista 64 bit operating system was introduced in 2006. It is now October 2008. Nearly all new computers come with Vista 64 bit INSTALLED! Last year when I contacted support@lasersoft.de about not being able to use Silverfast 6.5 on Vista 64 bit the following was the answer. What seems to be the difficulty getting Silverfast to run on Vista 64 bit software? Three years seems to be a very long time to not be able to use your fine products!

Dear Mr Wood
unfortunately right now I am at a loss for a functioning 10000XL model (all in
repair) in order to give this a test run myself.
I noticed that your system setup basically looks fine and that Epson did put
Vista x64 drivers online in January.
So I would suspect this might run fine.
But SilverFast simply won't let you install into a Vista x64 environment. We
might want to change this anyway. I will talk to the programmers' and get back
to you as soon as possible. Still, generating plugins and installers will take
a couple of days...
Kind regards

Re: silverfast HDR xp/vista 64 bits ?
Dear Mr. Wood,
the majority of the installed Vista versions should still be 32Bit, anyway we are working heavily on the development of SilverFast and our longterm goal is to get more SilverFast versions to support Vista 64.

Re: silverfast HDR xp/vista 64 bits ?
Thomas - You are mistaken about the Vista OS being installed on new computers. By far the majority of NEW computers have Vista 64 bit, not the 32 bit version. Check the prebuilt Dell computers being retailed in the USA. Nearly all are Vista 64. Even the new laptop computers are mainly Vista 64. You guys need to get your act together. Bill

Re: silverfast HDR xp/vista 64 bits ?
Dear Bill,
Please check the following compatibility list, there you will find all scanners that we've tested under Vista 32 and 64 bits, you will find the respective compatibility system in brackets after every scanner model.
The list can be found at:
http://www.silverfast.com/show/vista/en.html
About your latest statement (although useles), I would like to send you this link which I found in the very same website described by you:

Just to prove not all computers come with Vista 64 bits preinstalled
Thanks for your interest in our products

Hola Alejandro
Thanks for the 64 bit compatibility link. Since only six out of 79 Silverfast versions are Vista 64 bit compatible, Lasersoft appears to have just started the effort to bring Silverfast into the 21st Century ;-) Do you have an estimate at to when the top-of-the-line Epson 10000XL scanner will be included? Now I am hobbled by the need to have TWO computers running, one with Vista 64 for all my work EXCEPT for scanning. To use Silverfast I have to power up a back-up computer with a 32-bit OS to scan. Then move the image over to the fast computer for final work under Photoshop CS3. Pretty awkward to say the least.

Re: silverfast HDR xp/vista 64 bits ?
Dear all,
i am posting this to some threads so please excuse the "generic" wording :-)
Just recently we got the official promise of support from EPSON to help us in getting the recent EPSON Scanners to work with Vista64.
Honestly we did not push this too hard as demand for Vist64 was'nt that great before but as we learned from these forums its growing !
So YES, we are now actively in the process of solving this Problem.
Please have some more patience as there will be quite a lot of back & forth with EPSON to overcome several obstacles but i am optimistic that we will get to work at least the latest models ( VXXX Series ) !
best regards,
Nils Heidorn, R & D
P.S. for the Expression 10000 XL things will be a bit tougher than for the VXXX Series, but lets see !
