Silverfast for two scanners
I have Nikon Coolscan IV film scanner without Silverfast. I want to get Silverfast Ai6 for it, and I am going to buy an Epson flatbed scanner (3170, or 3200 Photo or Pro). I want Silverfast Ai6 for the flatbed. What is the best way to go?
You could output raw files from the scanners, attach a profile, and use HDR to make adjustments and then to PS.
You can use Ai (1 for each scanner) and output to Photoshop to finish adjustments
You can use Ai (1 for each scanner) in HDR mode and output to HDR and make adjustments and then to PS.
Take a look at the tutorials on Ian Lyon's site for the various workflows
www.computer-darkroom.com
Then download the demo for your scanner and try it out. HDR will work much the same , with a few exceptions (ICE for example) that are hardware dependent. i use Ai with my CS4000 and old Microtek E6, output to HDR, and then to PS using a color managed workflow (IT8 option on both scanners. You can get it for HDR if you want to generate profiles there instead.)
Rumor has it that DCPro is HDR with added features for digital cameras. i would confirm that with Lasersoft though.
