Silverfast/EyeOne Pro/HCT/8000ED

Postby cowgum » Tue Feb 11, 2003 3:53 pm

Hi, I am interested in getting a copy of the SF Ai and SF HDR. But before I make any final commitments, I would like to know how these few tools could work with one another:

SF Ai
SF HDR
Gregtag Macbeth Eye One Pro with Eye One Match
(Monitor and printer calibration and scanner profiles)
Hutch Color Targets (HCT)
PS 7

Hardware:
Win 2000 with SP3
Coolscan 8000 ED

I would presume that I do not need any IT8 targets. Am I correct to say that I can scan my targets in SF Ai and do the scanner profiles with the i1 Pro and use it in PS7?? Does the SF Ai allows the embedding/assigning of scanner profiles. (I am not sure of how SF Ai deals with the Color Mangement yet) What exactly does the IT8 calibration do in SF Ai??? Is it for the scanner profiling and if so, does it supports the HCTs????

I would like to do 48 bits RAW scans and manipulate them later. How does all of the above fits in?? I would appreciate if someone could explain a workflow to me.

Thanks a million!!!

You can create the scanner profile using i1Match and use in either Photoshop or SilverFast. IT8 is also for creating a scanner profile. The Hutch taret is not supported by either SilverFast or i1Match

hmmm...I understand that many people that I had spoken to said that only the Profiler Pro....but I did manage to create my scanner profiles with the i1.....

I scanned in the targets (with no CMS) and opened it up in the i1 together with the reference data and the i1 did create a scanner profile. Is there something wrong here???

Thanks!!!

Gretag haven't indicated support for the Hutch target with i1Match. If you are getting i1Match to read the target and build the profile then it's likely that you're not doing anything wrong just that Gretag is keeping quiet about suport for the Hutch target.
