SilverFast as plug-in to Photoshop

Postby dieterrath » Sun Jan 11, 2004 8:50 pm

I am very new both to scanning with Nikon 4000ED and SilverFast. When using SF as plug-in of Photoshop it disturbed me that each time I produced a final scan SF disappeared and had to be started again in Photoshop for the next scan.
Then I found this item in the options menu where one can force SF to reappear after the scan automatically. This works fine, however I don't have any access to the just produced scan in Photoshop. Since one cannot minimize SF, it stays on top of Photoshop and doesn't allow any access to Photoshop functions.
Is this the way it works, or am I doing something wrong ?? Thanks for advise. :o

That is the way it has always worked for me. You could try using the SF launcher for scanning and work with an image in PS, but you will need a plenty of memory >= 1 GB. and it will slow one or the other process down. Many people scan to disk and then do corrections in PS or HDR later. This works well if you are batch scanning slides or film and output the scans to HDR. i believe the version of Ai for the CS4000 came with HDR.
