Silverfast and Multiple Scanners

Postby Alwin » Mon May 30, 2005 12:24 pm

Hi,

I have Silverfast AI Studio 6 for negative scanner. Sometimes I have to scan with a normal flatbed scanner but of course I can not use Silverfast with it.

So my question: is it possible to buy/get an extra module so I can use silverfast with two scanners? Or would that mean that I have to buy a whole AI package for my flatbed scanner, too?

Alwin,

I think you have to purchase a copy for your flatbed scanner. My understanding is the product is tweaked to work with specific scanner hardware Vs it being a general application. I think this is done to take full advantage of the features each scanner has to offer.

Perhaps someone from LaserSoft will elaborate on this for us.

Dear Alwin.

RAG is right. You need to have a separate plugin for flatbed scanner. Some of the SilverFast plugins work with different scanners even with the same serial number. However most plugins need separate serial numbers for different scanners. Depending of which type of scanners you are using (from the same or from different manufactures) you might be able to work with one plugin (and two serial numbers) or with two plugins (with one serial number each).

There is a discount for cross upgrades. Please contact the sales department at sales@silverfast.de.
