I have v**s**n Prof, SilverFast 6.5, and SilverFast DCPro Studio. Although I seem to get better scans with SilverFast 6.5 than with Vuescan--especially with color and ICE dust removal, SilverFast is much slower, primarily because of the lack of a batch prescan feature with SilverFast.
My workflow has thus become: 1) scan with v**s**n into 48Bit RAW files
2) process the 48Bit RAW files as HDR files with SilverFast DCPro Studio
Am I losing anything by using v**s**n for scanning and SilverFast for post-processing? It seems to me to be using the best features of each program.

as long as VS is appling a known gamma, 1 assume, for raw, then no prob. i wonder why you are doing this though, since AI will do the same for you. And you can set a gamma if you want to feed to HDR .
Also, ICE only works at the hardware level, and you must pay the time price there. Anything else is software filtering and generally not as good , but that will vary by the image and user.
For example, with kodachrome, you may have to use something other than ICE to process the dust on the image, because of issues with silver in the processing.
