Sharing calibration and settings

Postby sgreene » Thu Mar 30, 2006 7:50 pm

I use Silverfast for several different scanners. On one computer the program is accessible to several different users. Is there a way to share the calibration profile and saved settings between users on the same computer?

Thanks.

Steve,

I don't believe there is an automatic method, but you should be able to select the same profiles for each user.

With regards to the saved settings, are you using a MAC or a Windows PC?

Sharing calibration and settings

I'm using Windows XP Pro. Each user has to calibrate the scanner independently, and saved settings are not available to other users. Is there a way to move these into the "All Users" folder in Documents and Settings?

Thanks.

sgreene,

I haven't done this, but you might try copying the Prefs folder to the additional users.

Example (Assumes Administrative privileges): sgreene logs on and calibrates the scanner, then copy C:\Documents and Settings\sgreene\Application Data\Lasersoft Imaging\SilverFast\Prefs to C:\Documents and Settings\user2\Application Data\Lasersoft Imaging\SilverFast\Prefs

You could also try copying the entire C:\Documents and Settings\sgreene\Application Data\Lasersoft Imaging\ folder tree to C:\Documents and Settings\all users\Application Data\Lasersoft Imaging\ to see if that works.

Another thought is that if you are able to logo to the computer as the administrator, maybe the installation would give the option of installing for all users. I haven't tried any of these since I am the sole person using my computer.
