shadow detail issues
I am using Microtek 4000tf scanner with Silverfast AI 6.6 in a Mac iMac G5 with OS10.4.11. I am scanning black and white negatives. When I check my highlight and shadow values with the densitometer after either an automatic or manual adjustment, the highlight reading is about 242 and the shadow value is about 25. This is where the readings should be. But after the final scan, when I check the images in Photoshop, the brightness values of the highlights remain at about 242, but the shadow values consistently drop 10-15 points. As a result, unless I make changes in Photoshop, I lose shadow detail. Yes, I know I can correct using the levels or curves adjustments in Photoshop, but I would like to avoid compressing the tonal scale if possible. Can anyone help me figure out why the shadow values drop in the transition from Silverfast to Photoshop? Thank you.

Re: shadow detail issues
Dear Mr. Collins,
is it possible that you use a diferent colorspace in Photohop than you do in SilverFast ? This could explain this behaviour.
Could you please double check if the values are correct in our SilverFast HDR Software ? Please feel free to download a demo version from our website to check it if you do not have a license.
