SF HDR v6 > SF DC VLT upgrade

Postby Gregory C » Tue Mar 11, 2003 10:45 am

I own SF HDR v6. Do I need to purchase an upgrade to VLT? If so, how much will it cost me?

(I checked the VLT page but the upgrade/update pages only specify Ai v4+ and VLT. There is nothing there about HDR.)

HDR / VLT Upgrade

Postby President_LSI » Tue Mar 11, 2003 7:58 pm

SilverFast HDR / VLT Upgrade

There will be an upgrade for SilverFast HDR to SilverFast DCPro-VLT. This version will support all the raw formats for all major digital cameras! In addition there will be support for IPTC-format.

We are still working on this version. Expect a few more weeks!

PC Demo version of SilverFast DC-VLT?

Postby ianders1 » Tue Mar 11, 2003 9:21 pm

While I'm waiting for SilverFast DCPro-VLT, I'd like to try out the demo of SilverFast DC-VLT to try it out, but it appears that it is only available as a Mac demo. When will the PC version be posted? Thanks, and I'm really looking forward to the Pro version,

Ian

Some questions about SilverFast DCPro-VLT:
Is there also an upgrade possibility from SF AI 6?
Is the EOS 1D supported?
Are levels and curves etc. applied during raw - tiff conversion or is it only postprocessing?
Will there be a demo of SilverFast DCPro-VLT?
What will the price be?

Thanks in advance.

Stefan

My question is: How sorry are you going to make those of us who just gave Adobe $100 of our money?

Dear Stefan.

SF Ai and SF DCPro-VLT are different products, an upgrade is not possible, but ask teh sales department for a discount.

Canon raw format will be supported.

Levels and curves are applied to raw data.

Yes, there will be a demo version for DCPro-VLT.

I?m not sure about the price.

Eric.

SilverFast HDR-VLT is here

Postby President_LSI » Fri Mar 14, 2003 10:31 pm

SilverFast HDR-VLT is here!

SilverFast HDR has been replaced with a new free upgrade for all SilverFast HDR 6 users.
The new SF HDR-VLT has the same Virtual Light Table that SilverFast DC-VLT has. It also has printing of contact sheets and high resolution printing.

Enjoy!

Hello

I need to scan 5,000 existing negatives for archive/digital conversion and have a Nikon LS4000 ED.

1) Am I correct that DCPro will support Nikon's NEF high resolution 48 bit rate raw data format for its LS4000 ED scanner? (This is what your USA office told me).

2) That being the case, I am inclined to batch scan in Nikon's software in NEF and do all processing post scan in DC-Pro with job manager (assuming DCPro does, and HDR does not support 48bit NEF files). My reasons are:
a) Intuitively, it seems that sticking with Nikon's own RAW format with zero conversion is more "RAW" that the AI to 48bit HDR output. I have also read about some issues with AI and the LS 4000 (not as high bit rate when actually analyzed, than Nikon's files).
b) I find Nikon Scan 3.1.2 somewhat faster to work with that AI (no preview required for batch scans (with 5,000 negatives, this is significant).

Is there anything wrong with my thinking?

Thanks

--Caleb
