Set NegaFix settings for all frames at once?

Postby jackbaty » Wed Jun 24, 2009 2:46 am

I can't seem to figure out how to set all frames to the same NegaFix setting at once. I'm new, so bear with me. I loaded 24 frames of 35mm XP2 and selected all of the frames. The NegaFix setting was set to something other than XP2. I selected the first frame and chose Ilford->XP2-> Super 400 in the NegaFix window. Do I really have to select all 24 frames and set the values for each? I must be missing something. How do I set the correct NegaFix values for all of the frames in the prescan view at once? Seems like the vast majority of the time all of the frames would be from the same negative so not sure why I have to set each one individually.

Any tips?

Thanks

Dear Jackbaty,

There are many ways to make this work, depending on what scanner model you have. The easiest way is to set a frame with your desired settings, you can save the frame using the option "save" under the "Frame" tab.

Call the frame with your desired name in the save dialogue

In the options dialogue select the previously saved frame as a default setting so all your next films will be scanned using those settings. Remember to select the default setting back after finishing the scan job.

That should work, thank you.

One of the things that trips me up is that I'm not sure which settings are included when saving a frame. Based on your answer I assume that the NegaFix settings are included. Can I assume that *all* settings are included: things like color correction, curves, etc.? Is this documented somewhere? I don't recall seeing it.

Thanks again for your help.

Dear Jackbaty,

All settings that belong to the frame will be saved, like scan resolution, NegaFix profile, filter, color correction, etc.

Cheers

How can I do this for SilverFast SE? I posted a topic about it but it was locked and I was pointed here.

Dear Customer,

the feature of saving individual frame settings is a SilverFast Ai feature.
If you need this feature you should purchase an upgrade to SilverFast Ai.

Dear thechrisproject,

You can not save the frame and its settings in SilverFast SE.

What you can do is set the first frame with its filmtype, speed, resolution, etc. and then press and hold the ALT key while clicking with the mouse the frames you want copy the settings of the original frame.

If you definitely want to save the frame with all its settings, you will then have to upgrade to SilverFast Ai or Ai Studio

Cheers
