SE Plus batch tutorial

Postby athegn » Mon Aug 14, 2006 10:57 am

This is in addition to another post of mine:-

epson-v700-and-se-plus-batch-t4370.html

Is there a tutorial that can explain how the batch process works in SE Plus.

I have and like SE but want to add the batch feature of Plus. But before I purchase would like some idea of how it works.

Cab anyone please advise.

Dear athegn

there's no specific tutorial, because it basically works the same as in SilverFast Ai. The only, but main difference is, that you cannot save a set of frames you've created and will need to redraw scan frames every time you'll switch e.g. from A4/US letter reflective scanning to a "scan a number of slides" setting.

If you already got a serialised version of SilverFast, the download will act an as update to the version installed.

To test the features of the upgrade as a demo version, please temporalily delete the serial number file.
The is most easily done by using SilverFast's service dialogue:
Please start SilverFast via the SF_Launcher. When "start automatically" is activated, the SilverFast plug-in will be started, too. Please close down the SilverFast programme while leaving the SF_Launcher opened.

Using Windows, now press the keyboard combination:
Shift+S+F
and click on the "Start" button of the SF_Launcher while keeping the keys pressed. Instead of SilverFast, the "Service Dialogue" window will appear.

Using a Macintosh, please use the combination Alt+Shift+S+F instead and click on "Start" to make the "Service Dialogue" come up.

This will allow you to delete the serialisation, the preferences, or to copy the SF_Logfile to the desktop.

This will change your SilverFast to a demo version, but also display all the feature you want to test.

After you have finished testing, you can either simply re-serialise and are back to status quo.
Or you may purchase an upgrade serial number to fully activate all features.

Thank you for your reply.

I will try out the method you have given.

This, of course, maybe the stopper:-

"The only, but main difference is, that you cannot save a set of frames you've created and will need to redraw scan frames every time you'll switch e.g. from A4/US letter reflective scanning to a "scan a number of slides" setting. "

I assume that this means each time I fire up Plus I will have to reset my frames even if I am doing the same job e.g
"scan a number of slides" last time?

Dear athegn

the last setting is saved. But if you'd change the frameset layout - which you are likely to do when changing from "scanning to couple of slides transparency" to A4 reflective scanning - your slides frameset is lost, and needs to be redrawn the next time you'd want to scan slides.

With SF Ai, you'd simply choose your saved frameset from a drop-down menu.

I tried to download the SE Plus upgrade but hit a problem.

I got this message:-

"Serial number MYSERIALNUMBER is valid but not registered. Please register here."

I clicked to register then entered my details, including copy/paste MYSERIALNUMBER, and then got this message:_

"SilverFast serial number is not valid: MYSERIALNUMBER"

In this post have replaced my real serial number with MYSERIALNUMBER

Can you please advise?
