Scanning problem with S.E. on 48 BIT HDR color

Postby marcuskoppen » Wed Dec 03, 2008 11:02 am

Hi there,

i have a Epson v700 and using Silverfast SE on the latest upgrade.
at the moment i am scanning medium format negs and played around with 48 bit hdr color ith which i get more details and better scan quality.
the images are opened up in CS as negative version (with is not the problem) but when turned into positive all images have a high green/cyan color cast and it take lots of work to get rid off.
i am i doing something from in the scanning ?

best
Marcus

Dear Marcus,

You are probably inserting some surrounding area into the scanning frame which makes SilverFast produce the blue cast. Please try reducing the scanning frames a bit smaller than the image so you do not include any area that does not belong to the picture into the frame.
Probably your problem will not be present anymore after that.

hi there,

many thanks for your reply

i have done another few test and also just cropped to a little scan area and switched in 'General settings' from negative to positive.
works better but still i don't understand it.

is that right?

Dear Customer,

as my colegue pointed out this cast is happening because you have not just the neg in the scanframe but something else.
So please keep your scanframes in the orange masking of the neg.

Dear Marcus,

If you continue to have the problem, would it be possible for you to upload some of your scanned pictures as well as some screenshots of SilverFast (prescan, endscan) somewhere in the web so we can perhaps better understand your problem?

thank you very much for your cooperation
