Scanning b&W negatives - forgot how...

Postby Zippy1970 » Thu Jun 28, 2012 3:48 pm

It's been a few months since I last scanned B&W negatives with SilverFast 6.6. Now I have a whole bunch of B&W negatives to scan but I forgot how.

I can remember having to change a setting, telling SilverFast I'm scanning B&W negatives (so it, amongst other things, switches off iSRD). But I can't seem to find it and now I'm wondering if I perhaps remember incorrectly.

If I simply set the film type to Other/Other/Monochrome I get horrible results due to iSRD (it looks like a modern painting).

So what am I forgetting?

Dear Zippy,

unfortunately it is not possible to scan B&W negatives with iSRD, because this film contains silver halide in the emulsion.
Infrared can not penetrate this layer. Please use this SRD.

Best regards
