I have an Epson Perfection 1640 SU Photo scanner. Is this model supported? Which version of Silverfast Ai would I use? How much improvement will the program bring to a low end scanner like mine?
Thanks everyone!

Yes, the Perfection 1640 is supported. If there isn?t a specific version for your scanner, you can normally allways use the basic Epson Ai version. Try our demo version first to see yourself, how much improvement a good software brings.

The Perfection 1640 SU is listed but not the Photo, so it would be the same version? I've been trying the demo and I must be doing something wrong, I don't see an improvement.

Improvement of SilverFast over Epson TWAIN

You can read comments how good SilverFast is compared to Epson TWAIN.
http://groups.google.com/groups?q=silve ... uk&rnum=14
You have of course to take advantage of the controls in SilverFast, such as:
Auto-Adjust (or Highlight/Shadow tool)
Gradation
Selective Colour Correction
Unsharp Masking
etc.
