Does anyone know how to make the Scan Pilot window go away? I've tried clicking on "Perfs" and then unchecking the "open at startup" box, but it always comes back when I restart. I've also tried creating my own settings in place of the SilverFast default settings, but that doesn't stop the Scan Pilot from coming back on startup either.

Dear Roger,
please indicate what SilverFast version you are using, and on which operating system. Your procedure was correct this should prevent the ScanPilot from starting again on a SilverFast re-launch. However, if you - for some reason - have SilverFast TWAIN and SilverFast Photoshop plug-in installed, and you launch them one after the other, of course your settings made in the first SF variant have no effect on the other SF variant.

Thanks. At least I know I was using the right technique. I've been using both TWAIN and the plug-in during some troubleshooting, so I probably clobbered something. SilverFast also stopped working properly with my SpritScan 4000 (the scan doesn't agree with the prescan crop box) and maybe the problems are related. I'm going to do another reinstall tomorrow and start from scratch. If that doesn't fix the problem, I'll be back. Promise! By the way, I'm using the current 5.5.0.6 Polaroid version with Windows Me.

It worked! The preference files were evidently corrupted and maybe there were some other problems as well. It probably happened when I was trouble shooting another problem and tried the TWAIN version one time and then went back to the plug-in version of SilverFast. Had some crashes along the way, too. Anyway, I reinstalled both Ai (plug-in version) and HDR and then ran the Add/Remove program to remove the TWAIN version of Ai. SilverFast now works with my SS4000 (no more framing errors) and I think I've killed off the Scan Pilot for good. Thanks.
