r54 update prevents moving frame outside préview window

Postby Jandn » Sun Sep 21, 2014 8:18 am

Silverfast SE Plus version: 8.0.1r54
Scanning material: Super 8 & 8mm home movies
O.S.: Windows 8.1SE (64-bit)
HW: Canon 9000F MarkII

Dear,

I use the software mainly to scan old 8mm/S8mm home movies frame-by-frame.

Working method:

I pré-define a batch-scan of 42 frames.
Because of the small size of the scan material, I need to adjust the frame position, in the preview window of the frame, and move the frame partly outside this window.
This was working well till update r53, since I installed update r54 on my computer, It's not possible anymore, to move a frame out of the pre-scan window.
This makes the r54 version useless for this kind of job (I re-installed the previous version again).

I would be very grateful , if you would have this possibility in one of the following versions available again.

I also have some improvement suggestions for future versions of the Siverfast product:

- Zoom level of prescan window is now determinated by the frame size (which is handy) => it should also be very handy, if this option should have a manual setting too, (currently, the zoomed preview window cannot show more than one frame).
- Make it possible to save multiple frames with the expert settings of the frame dimensions, this option can save a lot of time.
- The scanning surface of the hardware allows to scan more than 50 frames, I understand that this is currently the limit for Silverfast SE.
Normal 8mm film height of 3.81mm, theoretically, can hold 78 frames (roughly calculated).

Best regards.

Dear Jandn,

The issue regarding the scan-frames was a bug.
The scan-frames are not supposed to be positioned outside the preview area.

You can zoom into a specific area by drawing a zoom frame (hold the command(Mac)/Ctrl(win) key and drag a frame using the mouse).

Saving frame settings is possible in SilverFast Ai Studio.

We will check regarding the number of scan-frames.

Kind regards,

Dear Arne,

The zoom function solves the problem I had before about adjusting the frame positioning.
I'm considering now upgrading to Silverfast Studio Ai in the near future to be able to save the frames settings.
Although, 50 frames are already nice, it improves productivity if I could use the whole flatbed of the scanner.
Thank you for your helpful reply.

Best Regards,

Jan
