Problems with IT8 calibration

Postby tatami » Wed May 30, 2007 1:52 pm

Recently I upgraded to Silverfast AI 6.5. Since installing it I've just tried to recalibrate my scanner (Microtek 9800). The software doesn't recognise my Kodak calibration card, presumably because it doesn't contain a barcode. So it asks me to locate the IT reference. I navigate to R2200401.Q60 in my IT8 Reference folder. This is the reference I've used successfully before upgrading. I open it and get a message that ICC reference already exists. Overwrite it? I cancel this so that I can position the mask correctly over the card. Once the mask is correctly positioned, I hit OK and this time round I click OK to overwrite the ICC profile. I get a message saying calibration succeeded with an average delta of E nan. Now my scanner scans everything as pure black. What's going on here?

Dear Tatami.

That's definitly not a common issue. I am not sure what the reason for that is. Could be a faulty ICC-Profile. Can you try deactivating the profile created under CMS options ? Is the preview still black ?

Best,

JAN

Thanks for your reply. I downloaded a new ICC profile but that didn't help. I've just uninstalled SilverFast and done a fresh install. That seems to have solved the problem but I must say it was a bit of a hassle because I lost all my settings in the process.

Best wishes

Philip
