Problem with preview using Jobmanager

Postby rabanito » Wed Apr 14, 2004 11:30 am

Microtek artixscan 4000tf
WinXP with FireWire
Silverfast Ai (newest downloadable edition)

Directly out of the JM-PDF-Manual:

"Start the JM processing mode by clicking the mouse on the
?Processing? button. By changing to the processing mode, the
selected image is automatically loaded from the scanner to the
preview window, meaning that a preview scan will be produced."

Not true, i have to hit the preview-button manually for every single image after having imported them from the overview.

Is there a way to fix this?

Is the overview not an actual prescan? Does SF has to make an additional prescan again after the overview? Is the overview prescan only a thumbnail and not useful as preview?

A good workflow would seem to me to be able to prescan and safe the prescans in one go, then on a second stage edit, safe and scan everything.

I cannot believe, that "the best scanner-software available" is not able to do that... i have to do new prescans all the time.

regards, rabanito

Dear rabanito

thanks for close reading the manual. Indeed the text is somewhat misleading and will have to be changed.

On the other hand, LaserSoft acknowledges that some users would like SilverFast to act in the way describe and we might implement this as an optional feature.

Hey Mister Noack,

LSI sells this product also for slidemagazine-scanners.
I'm the owner of a Braun Multimag, which is able to scan/prescan 50 slides without any intervention by me.
I just spent two hours testing the jobmanager, because like rabanito I can't believe, that a "professional" scanner software forces me to prescan 50 slides one by one!

For this scanner and for the money I spend for the programm, it's a very poor result.

So: DO SOMETHING AGAINST THIS BORING THING!!!!

Some users DO like SilverFast to act in the way described and you MUST implement this as an feature.
