I've just purchased the Epson 4990 scanner with Silverfast Ai 6 and want to create a scanner profile using Monaco EZ Color Optix 2.6. Can anyone tell me how to be sure that I've disabled any of the automatic features in the Silverfast software before I start creating the profile?
Thanks,
Bob
problem with creating scanner profile

Dear Bob
SilverFast's own routine deactivates such features automatically for its own IT8 calibration.
Of course you can Monaco EZ color for generating a scanner profile, too.
How the automatic image adjustment works can be influenced in the options dialogue on the auto tab.
Please note that you're calibrating to a given gamma value (set in > options > general), regardless whether you are using SilverFast's own IT8 calibration or Monaco EZ color.
If the icons on the main dialogue have a blue background, their default values are unchanged by the image adjustment.
On the frame tab of the main dialogue, do not use a filter and have the image type set to standard.

Here is a link that you may useful: "Colour Managed Workflow for Epson Scanners and Printers" http://ftp.epson.com/pdf/pr32ph/pr32phcmw.pdf
It's a few years old but specifically covers epson scanners and Silverfast and is still relevant. You may still need to check for neutral settings in places like Negafix, SDR, AACO (AI Studio only) and SDR.

Murray
