I own a Nikon LS4000 firewire scanner. Love it! ...in 9... Now I use 10.2... Is there a way to use Silverfast with my scanner/OS? I tried to dl the demo from this site but it doesn't work. I get a message saying "can't find adapter/film" or something... What's wrong? Any ideas?

If I'm not mistaken, you'll need to first load the Nikon original software and get it functioning. Our software requires their 'MAID' drivers in order to function.

Please visit Nikon's site and download/install their latest software first. Then load SilverFast afterward. Hopefully you'll get better results.

I have Nikon Scan 3.1.3 installed (on 10.2) but to be honest I can't get THAT to work either... It crashes as soon as I mount a filmstrip... Does anyone know how to make the Nikon scan work?

...and one more thing... I have tested v**s**n and that works fine with the scanner. So I know the scanner is "online" and working... Too bad v**s**n isn't worth **** when it comes to do professional scans...

...seems like we all have the same problem. Nikon 3.1.3 has stopped working as soon as we upgraded to jaguar (10.2) The result is that Silverfast 6 won't work either... Great! It will take forever before Nikon can publish a fix... :(

...I just got an answere from Nikon...

I wrote:
"Regarding Nikon Scan 3.1.3. When will you release a fix for Mac
OS 10.2 (Jaguar)?"

..the answere...
"Dear Daniel:
The Nikonscan 3.1.3 is compatible with Mac OS 10.1.2."

The stupid guys don't even know of 10.2... How obvious can I be... JAGUAR!!!

OK... another reply from Nikon. You guys will love this:

"The new OS X Jaguar (10.2) is not yet compatible with the Nikon
software. We generally require at least 90 days before announcing an
expected date for the update to our software. This is due to the need
to rewrite, test and approve the new software. You can keep posted
with the updates of all of our products by going to
http://www.nikonusa.com, selecting photography and going to digital
cameras, selecting Digital Tech Support and after selecting the product
going to software downloads."

...tee hee... "10.2 is not yet compatible..."

90 days... Great! We'll have a 10.2.1 by then... hmm... I wonder if that is compatible with nikon or do we have another 90 days of waiting?

Damn, I regret buying the Nikon LS4000... AND I DON'T WANT TO USE v**s**n!!!

...hehehe... I mailed Nikon about your tip on the compilation thing... :P

I think I rather boot to OS9 and scan there instead... v**s**n is so slow... Even on my dual 1GHz... Or am I missing something out then?

hmm... I'll guess I'll give it a try then... But can I make a good image from a raw scan just using photoshop or do I need a scan sw for this? The raw scans are very dark if I remember correctly... When I adjust that much in PS i loose plenty of valuable information in the image, right?... And rebooting in to 9 isn't fun at all, I know... :(
