New member with questions

Hey all,

I am a new member here, and i hope i can find answers here.

1. What is the difference between all those SilverFast versions [SE, SE Plus, Ai,....etc.]?

2. What are the best or the proper settings i can do for my scans [color and B&W]? I use SilverFast as simple as it is but not sure if i can do further more adjusting for optimal results.

3. Should i buy SilverFast every time i need to upgrade? Why isn't this software free for one time purchase for example or lifetime and so? other software such as Epson Scan not having this issue.

4. Again, if i want to use SilverFast on different computers but with same user for all, should i buy different copy for each?

the differences between the SilverFast versions can be viewed here:

Unfortunately there are no "best" setting.
The settings always have to be adjusted to the intended image result.

SilverFast is not free because there are people working here who expect to be paid.
Like me for example.

For private use it is OK to install SilverFast on multiple Computers as long as they are used with the same scanner.
Professional users are expected to buy a license for each computer. (Like it is with other software)
