Microtek 8700, Firewire & SF 6?

Will SF 6 support Firewire with my Microtek 8700?
Here are two conflicting statements about Microtek ScanMaker 8700.

Supported interfaces: SCSI/USB

BUT at http://www.silverfast.com/faq/1032/en.html there is this message,

What version of SilverFast does support firewire devices on OSX?

Only SilverFast version 6 will support fire wire on OSX!!
