Hello,
when one scans in the batch file mode - saving as tiffs- does silverfast generate the file info. module? I know when you batch scan to desk top and then save as PSDs no problem.
Just scanned four images as TIFFs to file and then cleaned two tp find no file info module. None in the the remaining two.
Can you help.
Paul

Hi Ralf,
The file info module is the EXIF file piece of an image file which when the file is opened is cofnigured to open up allow you enter ther IPTC data.
In Photoshop go to File>File info. The module opens up giving you fields into which you can type captions, descriptions, copyright data etc..
When I use sf6.0 , OX 10.2.8, Polaroid 4000 sprintscan and set scan mode to Batch(file) the tif image files do not include the file info. module - you cannot open the file info - there is no chance to enter IPTC.
If you go to File>File Info. you receive the message I quoted to you before about problems with the module.
But I can batch scan normal!!!!!
Thx
Paul

Dear Paul,
EXIF data and IPTC data are not the same: EXIF (Exchangeable image file format for Digital Still Cameras) is used to store data related to digital still cameras like aperture, exposure, ISO and so on. IPTC (International Press Telecommunications Council) on the other hand is another standard to hold a set of data related to pictures like copyright, caption, description etc..
You are most likely talking about the IPTC data, which can be entered (and viewed) in Photoshop under File->File Info.
But I still don't understand what you really mean. SilverFast Ai does not write any IPTC data into the files it generates when scanning to file. When you scan e.g. to TIFF and open that image in Photoshop, the File Info will be empty.
If I understand you correctly, you did some scans to file and got an error message when trying to open the File Info dialog in Photoshop. Is this correct?
If yes, which error message do you get (you said you quoted it but I cannot see it in your posting)? Which version of Photoshop are you using?
Ralf

Dear Ralf,
You obviously know more about this than I do. I am just a photo geek trying to explain something I don't understand to soemone who does understand it.
Os X, 10.2.8, SilverFast 6.0 X - PS CS
I scanned both Normal and Batch (File) and get an error message -
" Could not complete the file info command because of a problem with the file info module"
Also when opening the file for the first time after scanning there is another message which only appears once saying there is data in the file which cannot be read and has been ignored or not read.
I contacted Adobe about this. I sent them the file and they noticed as I had false data generated in a couple of the lines in the metadata file. Whan you earse these lines of characters the file info command works (I did not know you were able to go in and erase the data - thought it was locked).
The big question is why the false data is being generated in the metadata file and corrupting the fil info module. If you want to see a corrupted file I can send you one of you like. This is an issue which I believe is in the SF software File save code no problem with regular saves(desktop).
Thx
Paul

file info module
Hello,
I am currently having a problem with the "file info module" and your post was the only information online I could find from January. Did you ever get this issue troubleshooted and is there a solution?
