I am new to the forum and to SilverFast software. I recently purchased the Microtek 120tf scanner and I have successfully calibrated my medium format 6x7 with the supplied IT8 transparency. I am confused about calibrating 35mm slides. I tried calibration with the supplied Kodak IT8 slide with no luck. Could someone walk me through this. Is it necessary to calibrate 35mm if the medium format 6x7 is calibrated?
Please pardon me if this has already been covered somewhere in the forum.
Best,
J. Paul

Dear J.Paul
you are calibrating / profiling your scanner for a given light source.
Thus you can use the scanner profile created with your 6x7 target for the 35mm slides.
Use the 35mm slide holder.
Please open the option dialogue (from the "General" tab of the main dialogue (left, smaller window, where you do the scan settings).
Go to the CMS tab.
In the middle part you are choosing your profiles. Select the profile generated with the 6x7 target.
Kind regards

IT 8 Calibration for 35mm (follow up)
Dear Sonny,
I am in the process of implementing your suggestion for calibration and want to be clear on what I should do.
I found the CMS tab and under the Input selection and chose my profile for the 6x7 target. Do I leave the Internal choice below that None? In the bottom section Embedded ICC Profile do I check the box Embedded ICC Profile? Finally (I Hope), I get a message in Photoshop of Embedded Profile Mismatch. Do I use my embedded profile for the 6x7 target or convert to my current working space which is Adobe RGB?

Dear J.Paul
the "Internal" dropdown menu in the middle section of the "CMS" tab of the "Options" dialogue lets you set the internal color workspace.
This is the color space in which all rendings of image adjustments will that place.
You may choose to embed this info (which generally seems to be a good idea to me). You want to choose the same color workspace in Photoshop in order to have no transition loss when Photoshop re-renders to another workspace.
Best regards
