iSRD artifacts

Why do some photos have horrible artifacts from iSRD? (See good and bad versions in attachment.) What is workaround?

Dear Dick W

My guess is you are scanning either Kodachromes or some sort of film which was especially developed (cross processed) and left silver halide particles in the emulsion.

Infrared correction is not recommended with such kind of films because the silver particles spread the infrared light producing this type of artifacts. In such cases you can use a combination of SRD and iSRD using masks to apply the infrared correction only to parts of the image without many details (e.g. skies, uniform walls, etc.)

Kodachromes they are. By the thousands. And I'm generally really happy with the ME 64-bit HDR workflow results. Best scans I've ever made of Kodachromes. Only a very few exhibit these problems. But when they do... I'll check out that topic. Thanks.
