impossible to scan w/ Agfa F40 despite all procedures.

Postby macmaneric » Sun May 15, 2005 12:35 pm

Hi,
I've just downloaded the 2 demo versions of Silverfast (SE + AI).
I got rid of the original fotolook file, AND of the Kernel firewire agfa file in System/ library.
With both version of silverfast, the scanning procedure stops at the beginning of the previs phase. the multicolore wheel runs forever...
The only way to stop it is to unplug the firewire cable, and I have then the following message: calibration of the scan impossible (well that's my translation from french).
I have the same problem on my 2 machines (PWB G4 ti + Powermac G4 both on OSX 3.9), and I've just passed the week-end on it....
Anybody can help me?

Dear macmaneric

please don't hesitate to contact LaserSoft Imaging support staff: http://www.silverfast.com/problemreport/en.html

I would appreciate if you could paste a fresh copy of the SF_Logfile in the problem report.

On a Mac OS X PC you will find the SF_Logfile in /Users/(your username)/Library/Preferences/LaserSoft Imaging.

You could of course also you the search function of your system to find the "SF_Logfile". The SF_Logfile is always created anew when SilverFast is started up, even if no scanner can be found, it will be created.

Simply open it with your text editor (double clicking the SF_Logfile) and select all the text (CMD+A). Then copy the selection to the clipboard (CMD+C).
Go back to the problem report and click inside the text field. Move the text cursor to the end of your problem description and insert the SF_Logfile from the clipboard (CMD+V).

Thanks in advance for your co-operation.

Kind regards

Following a visit on a french forum, I just found the solution: I was just to impatient. If you wait until the spinning wheel finishes to turn, SF will eventually runs normally. And then, if you keep it open for the rest of the day, the spinnig wheel doesn't come back and SF runs normally. It seems the first calibration takes time.
Thanks for your support. I will downoad the full version soon.:D
