If I buy Silverfast?

I have an Epson Perfection 2450 Photo scanner, I am thinking of getting Silverfast Ai for it, my question is, if I buy it for this scanner and in a year or so I would get a different scanner such as the Epson V700 Photo would I have to buy Silverfast again for the new scanner or could I just update my existing Silverfast for my new scanner?

Of course you can do a so called "crossgrade" from the old to the new scanner.
