I downloaded the 5.5 demo, liked it so paid my $45 for the upgrade. I got a new serial number and instructions saying,

"Thank you for purchasing SilverFast Ai 5.5. You may now serialize the software to remove the watermarks from the demo version. Please enter the registration information below into the serial number box, exactly as shown (the serial number is case sensitive):"

but when I open SF I don't see any box prompting me for the serial number. I still seem to be in demo mode. I tried reinstalling but no difference. I remember updating version 5 and that always asked for my serial number every time I reinstalled. Can I really make the demo a full version, or is there a problem - mine or LaserSoft's?!

Not sure, but try this: (1) click the Info icon; (2) click Credits bar; (3) click Update and fill up the questionnaire.

This is the procedure for activating IT8 calibration, upgrading full versions of SF, and in just might work for you.

Thanks for the idea but it doesn't work! I don't see any "Update" icon to click.

It is the Info icon, with an 'i', where you start; you will find in on the Scan Pilot strip.

Same question as David's.
I can click on the 'i' icon, this opens up a popup where I can click on the 'Credits' button.
This brings me to a popup that tells me that I am using the demo mode. This popup has a 'Serialize' button, but it is greyed out and I can't click on it.

There is an "i" icon for info in the preview window - not in Scan Pilot. This opens the information about SF, clicking the "credits" button there brings up some interesting photos - but nowhere to add a serial number!

I'm also having the same problem with my Epson Expression 1600. I also went to the download page in support, and then went to the download upgrades page, but it's all v.5.2

Dave, sorry for Scan Pilot: wrote from failing memory. Apparently, you missed the last step: in the Credits window, click 'Update' in the lower left corner; this takes you to the questionnaire window to be filled in: insert
Host Serial Number (it is listed in Credits window as well as in the SF_log.txt file), personal data, and the 'Serialize' number that you got from LSI; then click OK. If this doesn't work, you should ask info@silverfast.de for instructions.

My problem is that there is NO 'Update' button in the Credits window.

Are you guessing from experience or do you have a version 5.5? If the latter I will try and download another copy but I suspect this is another example of LaserSoft's brilliant User Interface,

I mailed them but - guess what - no reply.

Thanks anyway

Well, I just checked their "Download Updates" page, and they now have the v5.5 updates ready to download. The only problem is that our old username/passwords don't work (which is good) but we can't register to get new ones - it comes up as invalid serial # when I tried to register. Hopefully they can get this thing worked out soon. It does look as they're trying, though!

I have spoken to LaserSoft - they are now working on the problem. I am told it is not possible to make the demo into a full version. We now have to wait until we get a username and password to download the full version.

David,

Did they say how long that will take or how we will get the username & password. Are they going to email them to us (people who have ordered) or do we have to keep checking this site to find out how to do it?

ianders1,

I called and was mailed a username & password within two hours. They now know the problem & I expect will fix it. But I would suggest you call the Florida office to get your details.
