Help...Invalid Serial Number

Postby mcpo22 » Fri Mar 03, 2006 2:13 am

I installed my Epson 4990 Photo Scanner yesterday and installed SF SE that came bundled with it. After experimenting and researching I decided to upgrade to the SF Ai6 Version, and ordered the downloadablre version. I religiously followed the instructions for re-serialization (about 20 times) and all I get is the dialog box saying "Invalid Serial Number" I have scoured the web-site, read and followed everything regarding the process, scoured this forum, and am still stumped. I have filed a report through tech support, but if anyone can give me any ideas to get me up and running with my upgraded version I would greatly appreciate it. Nothing pisses me off more than problems like this that render my purchase unusable. Someone please help.

How long was the serial number you entered? I believe it should be 35 characters long including the hyphens.

This might seem like a silly question, but are you entering the serial number from your original CD?

Problem Solved!!!!!

First of all I was misled by the following statement in the email from LaserSoft when given my serial number: "You will need to reserialise your already installed version as described on our website to enable the additional features with your new serial number"

Based on that, I assumed (after reading their directions on the web-site) that I could do this by launching my current version (SE), following their procedures and entering the serial number. WRONG! I assumed from their email, that my SE version would be unlocked to add the Ai version.

I called Sales at their Ft. Lauderdale Office this afternoon to express my unhappiness, and a friendly sales rep informed me I had to do the following: Download the Ai DEMO (and associated Docs/Movies), uninstall the SE version completely, Install the Ai demo, launch it and enter the serial number given to me. It worked flawlessly...I am now up and running.

I'm a relatively computer literate guy, and their email with my license was MISLEADING...and caused me a lot of grief. I hope this helps someone else out there in the future...it was frustrating!!!!!!

Anyway, thanks for indulging me

Glad to hear you got it working and that it turned out to be something simple.

Thanks for sharing the solution with everyone!
