Anyone know if there is there any way to increase the size of the font used in the user interface for Silverfast AiStudio 8? Its so small I have to squint to see it, and I've found no obvious means of making it larger *within the application*. I am aware of the Windows settings that will increase font size overall, but I don't need a general increase in size across all applications.
TIA
David

Hi there
No, there is not a way to modify the size of the font in SilverFast. This has to be made by changing the appearance in the operating system.
Kind regards

Re: Font size in UI too small
Four years on and this is still an unresolved problem. I have never come across this with any other software before. What a strange problem. On a 4k monitor, it is unworkable. Even changing the screen resolution has no effect. The fonts seem to be set in absolute hardware pixels, which is an unusual way of writing a user interface. It makes the software useless on a hi-res monitor.

Re: Font size in UI too small
Some years ago my wife bought me an expensive film scanner along with the even more expensive Silverfast software. After almost a year of frustration I sold the scanner on eBay for a fraction of it's cost. Just before Christmas (2016) i invested in an ?Epson V850 Pro scanner which comes with the incomprehensible X-Rite i1 software and the almost 'invisible' SilverFast SE Pus. As others say the interface is not only over-complicated but made so much worse in having to use the 'magnifyer' to read anything on the screen. I also note that upgrades are as expensive as ever. Results wise I cannot really tell much differnce between SilverFast and the perennial Epson Scan (also with the scanner) except in the scan speeds - Silverfast takes 3 to 5 times as long as Epson Scan. Luckily over the years I've discovered v**s**n Professional which as well as costing a lot less than SilverFast in the first place the price includes life-time updates. It's as simple, or as complicated as you could ever wish for, works with virtually every scanner (ever) made, gives great results and joy of joys I can adjust the fonts - to larger than this! I'll keep a weather eye open for SilverFast listening to it's users (can't think there are that many - not in the imaging business anyway) but I won't hold my breath.

Dear customer,
Please make sure you are using the latest SilverFast update.
SilverFast is now using the operating systems enlargment factor for apps, text, and other items.
Kind regards,
Arne

They are right you know...I just updated my software and it's nice and BIG at last. Still don't like it though...lol
Re: Font size in UI too small
I have just intalled the latest Silverfast HDR Studio (8.8.0r8). The interface is as impossible to use as it ever was, due to the tiny fonts. I suppose there are not many customers left by now ... It was my last try. Money wasted for sure.

Re: Font size in UI too small
It works on our testing system and with other users who had this issue.
Is the size settings of text, apps, and other items in the Display setting set correctly?
Kind regards,
Arne

Hello,
Indeed something has improved. You now acknowledge there was a problem with some users. Due to the nature of the problem, it was without any doubt a problem for every user. But you are on the right way.
Nevertheless the problem is always present. I set the display magnification to 125% in Windows 10, which gives me good results with all my programs, except Silverfast, whose fonts stay the same, whatever the magnification.
Please feel free to reveal the magical settings that solve the problem.

Dear Mr Aristegui,
Have you checked if maybe the scaling behavior overide is active?
Right-click the SilverFast 8 shortcut and select Preferences. In the Compatibility you can find the "Overide high DPI scaling behavior." setting. This should not beactive.
Kind regards,
Arne

Re: Font size in UI too small
Dear user,
We have found a possible source for the small UI issue. It seems to happen on systems with a QHD+ screen.
Our developers are currently looking into this. It took some time to locate this because we do not have such a display in our testing department.
Kind regards,
Arne

Re: Font size in UI too small
I do have the latest version of HDR Studio (8.8.0r8) and the display font size does not change when increasing the size from 100% to 125%.
The computer is a VAIO portable, Speccy lists the following display values:
Name Nvidia Default on NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M
Current Resolution 1536x864 pixels
Work Resolution 1536x824 pixels
State Enabled, Primary
Monitor Width 1920
Monitor Height 1080
Should changing the display size from 100 to 125% in the general settings of Windows 10 64-bit suffice, or are there other settings which must be modified?
Thanks in advance, AHF

Re: Font size in UI too small
I have just intalled the latest Silverfast HDR Studio (8.8.0r8). Changing system settings (apart from resolution) does not help. Icon properties are correct according to your advice.
Resolution is the only change that affects SilverFast, but that meses up everything else.
